Winner DJ battle

Five deejays have given it their all and fought to be a recurring deejay at Striktly Social.

Who’s going to be it?

Qualifications

The requirements weren’t quite easy. First there was a screening. Those who passed it received the task to perform with some more requirements:

  • 50/50 salsa and bachata ratio by playing 3 salsa and 3 bachata track, one after each other;
  • variation within styles and dare to be innovative;
  • let the audience enjoy the act, from beginning till the end.

We’ve tracked all the respones of the audience during five Tuesdays. We’ve looked at the indirect responses as well. We even saved all the responses we’ve received and read them all… You’d think that this would make it a lot easier… (Read our previous post for the points of interest)

The participants

Dj Roggy stood out because of his unique, lovely and danceable salsa tracks. Dj Virgil El Gigante’s strength was the variation of multiple sub styles. Dj Kelly received compliments because of her great ratio between good danceable salsa and bachata. Dj El Pequeno loco kept up with a good pace during his set. At last but definitely not least: dj Jimmy, that has kept the dancefloor full of people from beginning till the end, last Tuesday.

We noticed that all the deejays have given a musically enrichment to the dancers and we, as an organisation, can confirm that all the deejays have performed perfectly according to our requirements.

Okay, we’ll cut it here. So, who’s the winner?

The most positive respones are for…

Dj Virgil El Gigante!

Closely followed by Dj Kelly.

We welcome all the other deejays that have participated. But for now, we invite Dj Virgil El Gigante and he’ll perform on the upcoming social: Tuesday, the 5th of december! As a nice ‘Sinterklaas’-gift! 😉

What is the Blue Carpet Gala?

It may be for you!

Have you heard about the “Blue Carpet Gala”? Isn’t that a mysterious night for students of Bachata Passion, with a lot of things going on? But what is it? And is it only for students?

Because I’m curious as always, I’ve taken a look at it for you guys. First, it is something for you, so keep reading on and decide if it is something for you.

After an extensive conversation with Steffie, the organiser, I’ve got the feeling of a carefree night going out. Wether it is because it sounded like music to my ears, because I need a vacation, or because of her answers: “We’ll take care of that”, “We’ll guide you through the night”, “You don’t have to worry about anything”, “Everything is included, you don’t even have to take your wallet with you”…

A huge difference with current parties is a carefree and chic night out. “As if you’re being pampered and treated as a guest on a nice wedding”, is what some of our visitors said last year. So All Inclusive in Dutch means: unlimited snacks, drinks, use of facilities and at last but not least, you will be entertained. It is possible to enjoy special acts next to dancing.

The program starts directly from the beginning of the night, at 22:00 hours. Not everything will be told in this post, so there will be some surprises at the event. We know that the couple Luis & Andrea are on the dancefloor. “This is what caught the attention of international visitors”, Steffie continued, “Tickets have been sold to Bachata lovers from Germany, England and Belgium”.

So it isn’t only for students, that’s for sure. But for who is it then? “The most important thing is that you love Bachata, an exclusive chic setting and the lovely December feeling”.

Do you want to go? You’ve reacher the end of this article, so that’s why we give you a special discount code. Enter “Striktly” and get a €5,- discount on your ticket.

This article is written in response to an interview. If you have any questions, we’d like to refer you to the organisation of  Blue Carpet Gala or the event on Facebook.

next dj, Striktly Social!

Who will be the new deejay for Striktly Social on Tuesday at Coconuts?

There’s no accounting for taste… That’s why interested deejays are invited to perform one-time and qualify them as ‘Striktly Salsa & Bachata’ deejay!

The idea is just one week old and the response is great. A first selection has been made and you can experience the next deejays:

How do we measure the publics opinion?

All deejays get the same assignment; perform the Striktly Salsa & Bachata way: 3 salsa and 3 bachata songs. There is room for creativity within this assignment and that’s where the difference can or will be made. The difference is subjective but will be evaluate on:

  • Movement on the dance floor;
    • An empty dance floor, do the attendees dance already?
    • Do the dancers stay on the dance floor?
    • Do we see excited faces, are the people happy, are they enjoying it, are they singing along?
    • Do the dancers stay or will they leave (early)?
  • Verbal reactions;
    • What do the people say? To eachother, to us, to the deejay?
  • Response on social media:
    • Does the interaction occur more by one than another?
    • Do we receive personal messages with measurements?

Do you read this as a deejay and are you interested? Till Tuesday, the 17th of October, it is possible to sign up. Read the terms of condition here.

Do you want to see your favorite deejay more than once? Or are you surprised by a deejay in a positive way? Let everybody know by enjoying the night and feel free to share your opinion with us!
